Emerging Links is a means to share Kiowa stories, to preserve oral traditions, to keep the culture alive.

I remember when I was twelve, watching my grandfather take down his deerskin Dohason Calendar and begin reciting an episode from our Kiowa past. I vividly recall at that moment, realizing our oral tradition had to continue.

With my grandfather’s support, I approached many of the Elders in the tribe asking them to step outside the traditional to preserve Kiowa traditions. Each gave stories and spoke of the need to keep the stories for future generations.

Emerging Links is one of the ways, I am making sure the stories are shared with future generations.
